Whitsunday Touch President Alita DeBrincat has been recognised as the Queensland Touch Administrator of the Year at the 2024 Queensland Touch Football Awards, held on the Gold Coast on Monday, 2 December.
This incredible achievement capped off a huge weekend for Whitsunday Touch, with Alita and fellow club member Nate first travelling to Queensland State Cup, where they had the opportunity to experience yet another wet and wild carnival. The event showcased how Queensland Touch delivers an amazing week of footy, reinforcing the passion and dedication behind the sport at the highest levels.
Following the State Cup, Alita then took the stage at the Affiliates Conference, where she proudly shared insights about our great club, our community spirit, and the success of Whitsunday Touch with clubs from across Queensland.
The long weekend was capped off in the best possible way, as Alita was awarded Queensland Touch Administrator of the Year, a well-deserved recognition for her outstanding commitment and leadership over the past three years as President.
“It takes every single member in our club to make it great, and we’re so lucky to have an amazing committee that’s passionate about what we do,” Alita shared.
“At Whitsunday Touch, it’s really simple – it’s about footy for fun, for everyone.”
Alita’s dedication to growing Whitsunday Touch and building a strong, inclusive, and family-friendly club has played a major role in its ongoing success.
“Our goal is to make our carnival, the Whitsunday Cup, a must-do event for every touch football affiliate in Australia. We’re so lucky to have a great community here in the Whitsundays,” she added.
“It’s the perfect sport for kids, mums, dads—the whole family—because it’s safe, non-contact, and there’s no training or travel required. Even if you’ve never played before, we’ll show you the ropes—just come and give it a go!”
Having been involved in touch football since she was 14 years old, Alita continues to draw inspiration from the passionate members of Whitsunday Touch, ensuring the club remains a welcoming place for players of all ages and abilities.
Congratulations, Alita, on this well-earned recognition!
